Robert Kerr
Assistant Vice Provost – International Alumni and Development

kerrRobert A. Kerr is the Assistant Vice Provost of International Alumni and Development at the University of California, Davis. Assistant Vice Provost Kerr is responsible for developing and implementing programs that identify, cultivate, and sustain UC Davis' relationships with its international alumni and scholars, linking them, where appropriate, to UC Davis educational, research, and public service programs abroad. These networking opportunities have resulted in the creation of alumni liaison volunteers in over twenty countries worldwide.

AVP Kerr is also leading the development efforts of University Outreach and International Programs. Four initiatives have been identified for funding at UC Davis: 1) Creating an International Center to house 300 to 500 domestic and international students, a café and international offices and events 2) Stimulating new and innovative international research and education initiatives through seed grants 3) Expanding the opportunities for students to study abroad by significantly increasing their financial support 4) Attracting and supporting with endowed grants the most accomplished international scholars and students.

In cooperation with existing efforts in several colleges and departments, Dr. Kerr assists with campus visits by international scholars and dignitaries. Moreover, he coordinates and facilitates official UC Davis international travel.

AVP Kerr received his B.A. in 1965 from Capital University; M.A. in higher education administration in 1967 from Kent State University, and Ph.D. from Kent State in counseling and psychology in 1976. He joined UC Davis in 1972 and has served in student affairs (housing, and student programs and recreation), university relations (development and alumni relations) and now the Offices of the Chancellor and Provost.

Dr. Kerr serves on the Board of Directors of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education and is a frequent presenter at professional and student leadership conferences. He has been published in student services and alumni relations books. For three decades, Dr. Kerr has coordinated and taught time management and study skills workshops and classes through life-long learning university programs.
